I'm Denise, and this is the online hub of All Things Communications and Film. And photography. And writing. With some planning and pondering thrown in there, too. Not just a place to stash my CV and portfolio, this is also where I can share a bit about myself and how I approach my work. So, strap in.
A few quick things about me: I have a Master's degree in Communications and Media Management from Colorado State University, and a BFA in Film and BA in Political Science, both from the University of Colorado. I currently serve on the Board on Societal Impacts for the American Meteorological Society, and am Communications Manager for the TIV2/Storm of Passion storm chasing team. I make films, create media content, chase storms, talk about meteorology and climate change, learn new things continuously, pet dogs, raise children, and am always building, renovating, or organizing something around my house and yard. I like to be busy; my brain works better that way. I strive for balance between family and work, and I am passionate about both. I endeavor to help others, and to bring some good to a world that desperately needs it.
I look at life through a documentary filmmaker's lens, always searching for the root of every occurrence, the story behind every person, the grain that makes everyone and everything so interesting. And I bring that sensibility to every project I work on in media and communications. So, let's get started and create something interesting, together.
